The Alta Via n.1 of the Valle d’Aosta is also called “Alta Via of the Giants” as it runs at the bottom of the higher massifs of the Alps: Monte Rosa, Cervino and Mont Blanc. The route crosses all the lateral valleys on the northern Valle d’Aosta, from the Lys Valley to the Valtournenche, from the Val Ferret and the Gran San Bernando valley.
Along the way, which remains in a medium altitude of 2000 among pastures, meadows, wood and scree, you can see some important witnesses of the rural architecture related to the life in the mountain pastures. The trails are well signposted and, at every syep, it is also possible to go down in the nearest village to use the services here or to stop walking if needed.
