Here below the review by Bergsteiger of the model Freney XT GV:
Construction: Shoe made out of textile with high upper and flexible Softshell collar. Wrap around rubber rand, elevated on the heel part and expanded on the front. Nearly stiff sole construction (Category C/D) with climbing zone. Web and hook lacing System with deep pull lacing and meta hook to fix the lace. Fabric lining with waterproof and isolated Membrane.
Strength: Super lightweight boot for high altitudes with isolated sole construction and super load spreading. For all that stiffness the shoe creeps very well and surprisingly comfortable to walk. Top fast lacing, the shoe merges with the foot and the upper is extremely flexible for climbing, top grip on rocks after slight adjustments, good edge performance. Sweat absorbing and cuddly lining.
Weakness: Tight toe area, upper less stabilizing, large climbing area demands active edging. Outsole less grippy, in descent stiff.
Fix in the shoe: 5/5
Profile grip: 3,5/5
Edge in snow: 4/5
Climbing performance: 4,5/5
Boot for climbing tours and ice climbing:
The shoe which merges with the foot had the best creeping sole construction with fantastic climbing characteristics. Ideal for climbing and combined high altitude mountain tours, ice climbing and technical Ferratas. Not that good in snow.
